Is Your Shop Ready for the A/C Rush?

By Mike Miller

It happens every year. The first hot week hits, and suddenly every shop in town is slammed with A/C service requests. The shops that prepared during the slow weeks handle the rush smoothly. The ones that didn't are scrambling. Which one are you?

A/C Service Checklist

1. Calibrate your service machine. An uncalibrated machine over- or under-charges systems, leading to comebacks. Do it now, before the rush.

2. Stock refrigerant. Both R-134a and R-1234yf. Running out of refrigerant during peak season means turning customers away. Check your supply and order early.

3. Test your leak detection equipment. UV lights, electronic leak detectors, and nitrogen kits all need to be working. A/C leaks are the most common complaint, and fast detection means faster turnaround.

4. Train your team. Make sure every tech on your floor knows the A/C diagnostic workflow. Can they recover, evacuate, and recharge efficiently? Do they know how to diagnose electrical A/C faults? Refresh now.

5. Market your A/C services. Send a text blast, post on social media, update your website banner. "Get your A/C checked before summer" is a simple, effective message that drives traffic.

The Right Equipment Matters

A modern A/C service machine like TEXA's Konfort Touch handles both refrigerant types, provides automatic leak detection, and guides technicians through the process. Faster service, fewer errors, more profit per job.

Don't wait for the heat wave. The shops that prep now will be ready when the phones start ringing off the hook.
